Stills and the Friday List

12.12.2013

Happy Friday everyone!

Stills

1, 2 & 3. Santa grabbed a lift from the local fire brigade for his cameo at Alice's school presentation last night. It was so great. 4. Our beautiful Nashdale valley. 5. On my kitchen bench this morning. 6. This week I posted a few recipes and pics over on Olive and Clover's blog (loads of gorgeous Christmas present ideas here) 7. Our Mandagery Creek Venison wrapped up in prosciutto with red currant jelly. The perfect Christmas day recipe perhaps? 8. Raiding Cargo Road Wines' raspberry bushes again...shhh.

The Friday List

You tube has just released the top 10 viewed food videos of 2013 and as the Huffington Post reports, it's all very weird and worrying. For example, the top rating clip is all about scrambling eggs in socks...Really? Hilarious.

Gingerbread caramels from Love and Olive Oil

Just in case you haven't got anything better to do in the lead up till Christmas, why not make a geodesic gingerbread house?

Great idea for cooling down on these hot days via The Spring Blog

These would be cute presents for Alice to give her little school friends (too bad we've already handed round all those awful non-home-made candy canes). Via a new discovery, the nicely named Deer Circus

Making nougat or torrone sardo with Emiko Davies

Armchair travel - a visit to the fish markets in the Galapagos Islands via Lingered Upon

Champagne and lobsters on a Sunday afternoon. Oh yes please. Stunning pics from Olivia Rae James.

This week's new blog discovery - the gorgeous Eat Little Bird out of Zurich.

I also just stumbled across Molly Yeh's wonderful blog My Name is Yeh - and could spend all day looking through her posts. Just love everything she does and goes for, including these peppermint marshmallow sandwich cookies or her walnut molasses cookie bars.

And last but of course not at all least -  I wanted to share a beautiful little clip sent to me this week from basket weaver/artist Harriet Goodall. Some of you might have joined Harriet here for one of the two random weaving workshops she has hosted at our Farm Kitchen. Last year Harriet travelled to New Hampshire to teach a workshop as part of a larger gathering of artists, creatives and students all coming together under the incredible Squam umbrella. I think the clip below says it all..but wouldn't a subscription to this class be a great Christmas present? And while we are wishing for things...wouldn't it be great if Squam came to Australia too?
