Farmers market treasure hunt

3.16.2014

Last weekend we all went to Sydney for a few appointments and most importantly, the Northside Produce Market, where, every third Saturday of the month, we set up a stall with our Mandagery Creek Venison. To keep the kids occupied while we worked, I came up with a little treasure hunt that Alice and Tom could do around the market.

To be honest, Tom (4) wasn’t all that into it but Alice (6) really loved the whole process. She used her little camera and we’ve now printed out her photos and written up the 'interviews' in a scrapbook.

A few people at the market mentioned that they’d like to give this a go with their own kids so I thought I’d post a version of the form I did. You can download and print it by clicking here. Or of course you could make up your own. Either way, it’s a fun way to shop with the kids and maybe help them become a bit more interested in where their food is coming from and who is behind it.

Thank you so much to our friends Fred from Trunkey Pork and Bacon and Gena of Sweetness the Patisserie for being so lovely and generous with their time as Alice interviewed and photographed them and their stalls.

  1. What a great idea! I love that you get your kids involved in where their food comes from. That's awesome :)
