Publication Day!

3.24.2014

Today is the official 'publication day' for Local is Lovely!

My book is now on sale today in bookshops around the country and right here from me too. We are celebrating with a bit of a 'do' on Thursday night at the Orange Library (where incidentally, I wrote most of the book itself), so if you are or can be in Orange on Thursday, we'd love to see you there (just call them on 02 6393 8132 to book).

From apiarists to hazlenut growers, graziers, orchardists and blood orange growers; the above collage features a just few of the growers and cooks that appear in the book and I am so full of gratitude to them for sharing their stories and the odd recipe.

I hope that if/when you pick up a copy of my book; you enjoy reading about them too and feel inspired to turn the page, find a recipe, go shopping and get cooking!

If you would like to purchase a copy of Local is Lovely, you can do so directly from me (here's a link to my brand-spanking new online shop). I'd love to sign and wrap it for you with a little card (my mother, artist Annie Herron very generously allowed me to print a limited run of postcards with her Autumn trees painting from the book and these will go out with the first 50 orders). Please let me know if you'd like this option in the 'notes to seller' section of the checkout process.

Thank you so much for your support! Sophiex

  1. Congratulations Sophie, this is seriously exciting. I have delved deeper into your book since the weekend and I have found a lot of little 'bits' that I am definitely going to cook. Just last night I poached my first quinces for the season and loved your idea of adding the cooking liquid to custard. I seriously smiled at those lovely hazelnut growers and wondered if they would post their product?

Also, your mum's cards are so pretty. Would she consider selling them? If so I would buy them. Happy book selling days to you x

  11. Don't know you or your blog but picked up a copy of your book at BigW last night. Have already made the Danish Apple Cake which lasted two minutes after it was made and am presently enjoying the other easy-to-make recipes. Well done. Your book is relevant, accessible and without the celebrity tosh that I'm really over.

    Kind regards,
    Sorcha
